THICK RECTANGULAR PLATES WITH FOUR FREE EDGES ON ELASTIC FOUNDATIONS

The analysis of the thick rectangular plates with free edges on elastic foundations has been a topic of interest for a number of researchers for many years. In view of the difficulties encountered in trying to satisfy simultaneously the plate's governing differential equation and the free edge boundary conditions, it is quite clear that this problem will lead to a simplified method of analysis of high mathematical challenge. In this paper it can be seen that the problem is amenable to solution by the method of superposition and that any desired degree of accuracy can be achieved in the computation of deformation and stress of the thick plate.
