Differences Between Using Runge-Kutta Method and Matrix Method to Analyse Linear Chirped Optical Fiber Grating

At general,Coupled-mode equations is key point to analysing the characteristic of the optical fiber grating.It is often solved by numerical integration,at present,Runge-Kutta method and matrix method are the main two method.Because of the difference between them,We had compared them on analysing linear chirped fiber grating time delay characteristic in the paper.Under the same condition,when we used Runge-Kutta method,the graph of time delay bifurcated more notably with the increase of the wavelength,which had nothing to do with integral setting.However,matrix method couled avoid the drawback.Through increasing sample data,the time delay characteristic resulted from Runge-Kutta method became continuous.Only if the sample data is enough,Runge-Kutta method has the same result as matrix method.
