The compression effect of chirped picosecond pulses in fibers with slowly decreasing dispersion

The soliton-effect of picosecond pulse compression in fibers with slowly decreasing dispersion is studied. In this paper, by soluting the nonlinear Schrdinger equation (NLS) including gain effect numerically, we find that good compression effect will be obtained if initial chirp is added on pulse in optical fibers with slowly decreasing dispersion. Furthermore, the effect of initial width of pulse on soliton-effect of picosecond pulse compression is also obvious.
