SOLVENT EXTRACTION-NONDISPERSIVE ATOMIC FLUORESCENCE SPECTROMETRIC DETERMINATION OF MICROAMOUNTS OF ANTIMONY BY HYDRIDE GENERATION IN NON-AQUEOUS MEDIA

A method for covalent hydride generation in non-aqueous extraction phase has been developed for determination of antimony by nondispersive atomic fluorescence spectrometry. Antimony is extracted by ammonium pyrrolidine-1-carb-odithioate (APDC) into methyl isobutyl ketone (MIBK), and after hydride generation is carried out in the organic phase by sodium tetrahydroborate in ethanol and anhydrous acetic acid. Compared with N, N-dimethylformamide (DMF) used previously, ethanol is cheaper, non-poison, lower fluorescence background and hydride can be generated in lower acidity. The method is very sensitive and precise.
