The reflectance spectra and the heat--IR Observation of wheat in field indicate that the better the crop is growing, the lower the reflectance of visible light, but the higher the near--IR reflectance. However, the reflectance of middle--IR and the emission of heat--IR tendto be inversely correlated with crop water content. These spectral charactristics form a basef or remote sensing monitor of crops in field.
