STUDY ON THE COLLECTION WITH A GRAPHITE PROBE FILTER AND THE DETERMINATION OF TRACE INDIUM IN ATMOSPHERIC PARTICULATE MATTER BY GRAPHITE PROBE FURNACE ATOMIC ABSORPTION SPECTROMETRY

Direct determination of trace indium in atmospheric particulate matter was done by graphite probe furnace atomic absorption spectrometry after the collection with a graphite probe filter. The method was accurate, sensitive, simple 1 and rapid. The concentration of indium and the absorbance (Peak-area mode) showed an excellent linear relation in the range of 0-50ng/ml. The memory effect was produced when the concentration of indium exceeded 300ng/ml.The characteristic mass and detection limit of indium were 4. 8pg and 21.5gp,respectively. The results of analysis of the National Brueau of Standard (NBS), Standard Reference Material (SRM) No. 1864, Urban Particulate Matter, gave a recovery of 92. 4108. 434 and a precision of 8.1% RSD.
