Affect of Health Education on Drug Therapy Compliance in Schizophrenic Patients

Objective To explore the affect of health education on drug therapy compliance of schizophrenic patients.Methods 100 patients with schizophrenia have been intervented with scheduled health education during they staying and leaving hospital for three years. Then compared 100 patients with receiving no special health education.Results There were very significant differences in the cognitive level to the disease and the attitude of obedience during they stay in hospital ,and in the patients, drug therapy compliance and the rate of recurrence in every half year after they left hospital between two groups (P0.05 or P0.01) .The cognitive level of relation to the disease of the patients in the study group were better than those in the control group . Conclusion The health education had benefit to improve the cognitive level of patients and their relations to the disease, and increase drug therapy compliance and decrease the recurrence rate of schizophrenic patients.
