Determination of Trace Arsenic in Traditional Chinese Medicine by GFAAS

The property of traditional Chinese medicine is ralated to the content of trace elements.Determination of trace elements in traditi0na1 Chinese medicine can provide scientific basisfor study of the relationship between trace elements and clinical effect. A method for directdetermination of arsenic in traditional Chinese medicine by graphite furnace atomic absorp-tion spectrometry (GFAAS) with nickel nitrate as matrix modifier was described. The opti-mum ashing temperature and atomization temperature were choosen. The linear range of de-termined c0ncentration was 0~ 400×10- 9(r= 0. 9993 ). The relative standard deviati0n is 4.2% for 6 determinati0ns of herba houttuymae. The recovery rates are 93% ~ 97%. It is foundthat 9 ions in samples and acid condition don't interfere with the determinati0n of arsenic un-der the experimented conditions, The results are satisfactory.
