Effects of Boron and Calcium on Fruit Quality of Huyou [ Poncirus trifoliate (L.)Raf.]

An experiment with boron(B),calcium(Ca),boron+calcium(B+Ca)sprays was conducted in a 5 year old Huyou [ Poncirus trifoliate (L.)Raf.]for two years to study the effects of B,Ca and their mutual action.The results showed the treatments of B and B+Ca improved the fruit external quality and internal quality signficantly.Their percentage of fruit weight was 19 16%~34 51% and 17 47%~29 81%higher than that of the control respectively.The peel percentage was 3 59%~4 83% and 1 06%~3 3% lower than that of the control respectively.The treatments of B and B+Ca decreased the chlorophyll content and increased the carotenoid content and the rate of chlorophyll/carotenoid of the peel.They increased the sugar content,total soluble solids,the rate of sugar/organic acid and vitamin C content of fruit.The treatments of B and B+Ca decreased the organic acid content,the rate of residuce/juice and the disease fruit rate significantly.The effects of Ca treatment to reduce the rate of fruit disease and improve the fruit external quality and the fruit internal quality in 1998 were much better than those in 1999.
