Correlation Between Social Anxiety and Self Consistency and Congruence of University Students

Objective To study the characteristics and relationships between self consistency and congruence and social anxiety of university students. Method Using the scale of self consistency and congruence and the scale of social anxiety, we investigated 310 undergraduates and graduate students. Results The scores of boys are lower than the ones of girls in self flexibility and self consistency and congruence(P0.01). The scores of graduate students are lower than the ones of undergraduates in self flexibility(P0.01). The scores of the students of science are lower than the ones of the students of liberal arts in social anxiety(P0.05). The scores of the university students of high self consistency and congruence are lower than the ones of low self consistency and congruence in social anxiety(P0.05). Social anxiety is positive relative to the disharmony between self and experience, self-starch and self consistency and congruence. Conclusion There is a significant correlation between social anxiety and self consistency and congruence in university students, and self consistency and congruence has a significant predictability on social anxiety.
