LU Gang, HU Gui-ang (Guangxi Regional Geological Survey Research Institute, Guilin, 541003, China)
It has been discovered in lower part of the Heshan formation that laopeng marl sponges algae reef had deposited in the Wujiaping stage ( later Permian ) . The reef which based on coal-limestone belongs a group of point-reef with a shap of round knoll , which developed in the baeeier beach-mound of isolated platform with low emerge--deeper water and a tranquil environment . Its reef building organtsm is composed of fungus algae and sphinctozoan sponges , in part by inozoan calcareous porifera , hydra , tabular sponges , etc . The types of reef rock includes massive bed marl limestone ( hidebindstone , hidebafflestone ) , prebafflestone , etc. It is diffrence develop made from early Period to later Period. In view of the construction of laopeng reef and the characteristics of reef-forming at sponge . It is believed that the Permian sponge-limestone with tremendous thickness is a biologic reef , which developed in margin of platform. The growth of fungus-algae is important role in the construction of reef.
