The Effect of Microstructure on Strength,Toughness and Fracture Behaviour of 6Cr4W2Mo2V Steel Having a Mixed Structure of Martensite and Bainite

The effect of bainite on the mechanical properties of 6Cr4W2Mo2V steel with amixed structure of martensite and bainite had been investigated.During martempering.the prior bainite partitions the undercooled austenite grains and causesa refinement of lath width as well as the packet size of the subsequently transformed martensite.As a result.both the strength and toughness of the mixed structure significantly increased.Thebending strength increases 60% and the impact toughness increases 40% than that of lower tempe-rature tempered martensite.This work deepens the recognizing of the strengthening mechanism of dual phase heat treat-ment of 6 Cr4W2Mo2V steel.By means of the theory of refinement o1 effective grain size.wewould recommend a concept to explain the characteristic of strengthening and toughening.
