Application of Optic Fiber Sensors in Petrol Well Logging

Optic fiber sensors tend to be affected by the outside circumstances,resulting in the changes of such characteristics as light frequency,intensity,phase,polarization and wavelength.Relevant physical parameters may be obtained by measuring these changes.Due to the advantages of optic fiber sensor such as small volume,light weight,anti-disturbance,real time,high-efficiency and accuracy,it can be applied in petrol well logging in order to improve logging efficiency.The principium and progress of optic fiber sensors application in well logging,such as flow measurement,temperature measurement,pressure measurement,water and gas content measurement,density measurement,sound velocity measurement,natural gamma measurement and optics television measurement are introduced in this paper.The pressure and temperature measurement using extrinsic Fabry-Perot cavity optic fiber sensors and water content measurement using optic fiber sensors and nanometer technology are illustrated.At last,the advantages and defects are analyzed.
