The peel and ?owers essential oil of bitter orange(Citrus Aurantium L., from Brazil) was obtained by hydrodistillation, their chemical compositions were analyzed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry(GC-MS). 33 kinds of components in peel essential oils of bitter orange, and 31 kinds of components in ?owers essential oils of bitter orange, were characterized, and there were 11 kinds of components in common. The major constituents of peel essential oils were: D-limonene(79.953%), cis-limonene oxide(2.371%),(+)-(E)-Limonene oxide(1.695%), D-carvone(1.014%), neryl acetate(1.266%), cis-Carveol(1.324%),and geranic acid(1.131%). The major constituents of ?owers essential oils were: β-pinene(12.056%), D-limonene(12.252%), ocimene(4.8%),linalol(32.386%), linalyl acetate(3.307%), terpilenol(5.219%), neryl acetate(3.801%), geranyl acetate(3.403%), geranio(l2.252%),nerolidol(5.365%), farnesol(3.548%). When the two essential oils were applied in cigarettes, the differences of volatile constituents resulted in different aroma styles and application effect, the peel essential oil mainly provided fresh citrus-peel aroma, with ?ower aroma, it could improve the taste and aftertaste of cigarettes; and the ?owers essential oil mainly brought sweet ?ower aroma with fruit aroma, it could enrich the smoke and made the cigarette smoke soft.
