The Application of Calcium Carbide Ash in Highway Construction

ZHAO Hong - xing (Hebei Shihuang Express Highway Administrative Department, Shijiazhuang Hebei 050031, China)  
As an industrial waste material, calcium carbide ash is experimentally proved of same main ingredients with lime resolved and its contents of calcium and magnesium are in line with the requirements of highway construction. The experiment for ingredient design has been performed for calcium carbide ash with a dose of 10% , 12% , 14% , 16% , 18% and 20% respectively. According to the analysis of the experiment results, all indexes can meet the standard when performing the test pavement with 16% calcium carbide ash. To substitute calcium carbide ash for lime on the pavement base can save construction capital in large sum; can protect ecological environment with the reduction of exploiting quality limestone; can reduce its pollution to land and air through releasing the land used for calcium carbide ash discharge. Meanwhile, in this application, the economic benefits can be raised through lowering the enterprises'production cost.
