Study of fluorescent spectra of methanol

Using the Roper Scientific SP-2558 multifunctional spectrometer system,the fluorescent spectra was researched with experiments induced by UV-light.The research indicates that methanol molecules can absorb the UV-light and they can emit fluorescence with the peak value about 340nm.And the critical value of largest exciting wavelength(245nm) was got.The emitting mechanism of methanol molecule was discussed.The investigation on the fluorescence spectra and their characteristic will contribute to study other organic macromolecule fluorescence spectra when methanol serves as solute and hydrolysis catalyst.The results can be directly used to technology of fluorescent probe.
