Study on the operator of spatial moment based edge detection

This paper first introduces the basic principle of spatial moment based edge operator, mask, and calculating formula, then analyses emphatically the cause of principle error of the operator and derives the principle error formula. This paper also researches the validity, linearity and accuracy of the operator and offers the standard deviation of edge location, coordinate chart and compensated coordinate chart of linear edge detection and comparing results of measuring the size of an actual workpiece.
