Synchronous Studies on the Sterility Expressin of the Photoperiod and Temperature Sensitive Genic Male sterile Lines of Rice

Deng Guofu (Rice Research Institute, Guangxi Academy of Agric.Sci.,44 Xixiangtang Road,Nanning,Guangxi,530007)  
Different types of phtoperiod and temperature sensitive genic male sterile lines, Nongken 58S, 7001S,5047S, W6154S,KS 9,Peiai64S,Annong 1S and 5460S were used to study the sterility expression and the synchrony.The results showed that the sterility was found to perform best in Annong 1S and 7001S with thorough pollen abortion in mid summer in Guangzhou (23°08′N), but significant or highy significant difference from plant to plant, among spikes and florets of a plant was observed in other six male sterile lines. The difference of fertility among plants and florets was not effectively reduced by continully bagging single plant, and the fertility transformation was not fully synchronous among plants and florets of pure male sterile lines by continual observation.
