Test study on cutting force in titanium alloy machining

In order to explore the cutting rule of hard-to-machine material titanium alloy,multiple sets of parameters of titanium alloy cutting were combined through using uniform design method.The cutting forces were studied under the condition of 12℃dry cutting and-50℃cold blast machining.The exponential empirical formulas of cutting force applied to titanium alloy was established through linearization to the empirical formula of cutting force,and multiple linear regression analysis to experimental data.Variance analysis showed that these formulas have highly significant linear relationship.The results of test show that,although the main cutting force of cold blast machining is larger than dry cutting for titanium alloy turning,the range of the main cutting force is smallar.Therefore,compared with dry cutting,cold blast machining is better to improve the stability of the process system,it is suitable for precision machining of titanium alloy.It is proposed that higher cutting speed,greater depth of cut and smaller feed rate can be selected to reduce the main cutting force,to get a good precision,surface quality and machining efficiency in cold blast machining of titanium alloy.
