Research and progress of core-shell Polymer toughening epoxy resin

Core-shell polymers (CSP) have a large of advantages as toughening agent of epoxy resin,for instance, when toughness improvement was obtained without reducing the glass transition temperature of the epoxy resin,nor the processability. The character of CSP toughening EP,the preparation of CSP,the micro architecture and morphology of CSP are claimed in this text,also the affecting factors of toughening EP and its composites. Core/shell type dendritic hyperbranched polymer is becoming more and more popular in research and application. The toughening mechanism is also indicated,which is cavitations of rubber particles followed by plastic deformation. The future of core-shell particles and dendritic hyperbranched polymers toughening epoxy resin are also indicated.
