EFFECT OF THE NUMBER OF PLANTING SEEDLING ON CARBOHYDRATE-NITROGEN METABOLISM AND GRAIN FILLING IN HYBRID RICE AND ORDINARY RICE

ABSTRACT Hybrid rice showed stronger in single planting seedling heterosis in carbohydrate-nitrogen metabolism, dry materials accumulation and trans-location than those in high number planting seedlings. Along with the increase of the number of planting seedlings the percentage of empty and unfilled grain increases in hybrid rice but decreases in ordinary rice. In heading stage the ratio of the dry weight of the stem and leaf sheath to the number of flowers was significantly inversely related to the percentage of empty grain.
