Research status and breeding strategy of super rice in Guangxi

DENG Guo-fu(Guangxi Academy of Agricultural Sciences,Nanning 530007)  
At present,most of the super rice varieties in Guangxi have been introduced from other provinces,which were of long growth duration and the market potential could not sufficiently exert out.But the super rice varieties bred by Guangxi are of worse resistance and grain quality relatively.During the period of "11~(th) five-year plan",the breeding strategy for super rice in Guangxi should include: persisting in subspecies and heavy panicle,further improving plant type,properly increasing the leaf area;promoting the physiological harmony by breeding and cultivation measures to increase the beneficial profits and daily output.The key to break through the yield is to promote sink,sources,and flow.The main breeding indexes include: plant height with 120-130cm,strong stalk and resistance to lodging;panicle length with 26-30cm,the total grain is 230 and weight with 5g;thick and straight leaf,the first leaf length with 40-50cm;the growth duration is 130 days;resistance to rice blast and bacterial blight of rice;the grain quality reach to the second grade national standard;the yield goal in the near future is 10500-12000kg/hm~2,and that in the farther future is over 13500 kg/hm~2.
