Remediation of pakchoi on calcareous soil contaminated by cadmium(Cd)

Four pakchoi varieties were used as the experiment materials by soil cultivation in pot.The investigation was carried out to study the differences of purification ability of pakchoi to Cd in calcareous soil,and the remediation effects of pakchoi on soil contaminated by cadmium was discussed.The results were summarized as follows: the inactivation of Cd in calcareous soil was obvious;the fixation of Cd in soil could be reduced by planting pakchoi,and the fixation difference between Cuibao and other varieties reached a significant level.The purification rate of Cuibao to soil was the highest.Moreover,with the increase of Cd concentration,the activities of urease and catalase in soil were decreased,but the activities of urease and catalase could be increased after planting pakchoi,and the differences among the pakchoi varieties were not obvious.Furthermore,the results of regress analysis showed that the correlation between the activity of urease in soil and Cd concentration was significantly positive,and the activity of urease can denoted the contaminated extent of cadmium in soil.
