Correlation analysis between smoke components and chemical components in flue-cured tobacco leaves of Zhaotong tobacco-growing area

【Objective】The relationships between smoke components and chemical components in tobacco leaves were explored to provide theoretical evidence for the production, regulation and evaluation of flue-cured tobacco in Zhaotong area. 【 Method 】 The main flue- cured tobacco variety K326 from eight producing areas in Zhaotong tobacco area was used as the experimental material. The correlations between smoke components and chemical components in tobacco leaves were analyzed by correlation analysis and path analysis. Regression equations for predicting smoke components were also established by stepwise regression analysis method. 【Result】Smoke components were significantly(P0.05,the same hereinafter) or extremely significantly(P 0.01,the same hereinafter)correlated with most of chemical components in flue-cured tobacco leaves of Zhaotong area. Regression equations which were established based on the chemical components in tobacco leaves to predict the contents of TPM, tar, CO and nicotine of smoke reached extremely significant level. Regression coefficient of all regression equations reached significant or extremely significant level. Volatile acid, volatile alkali, potassium and the petroleum ether extract in tobacco leaves were the main indexes of chemical components which affected TPM in smoke. Total sugar, nicotine, and total ash in tobacco leaves were the main indexes of chemical components which affected nicotine in smoke. Total nitrogen, volatile acid, potassium, p H,total ash and polyphenols in tobacco leaves were the main indexes of chemical components which affected tar in smoke.Reducing sugar, potassium, p H and alkalinity of water-soluble ash in tobacco leaves were the important indexes of chemical components which affected CO in smoke. 【 Conclusion 】 Smoke components are closely related to chemical components in flue-cured tobacco leaves of Zhaotong tobacco-growing area. Based on the characteristics of the content of nitrogen compounds or carbonyl compounds in tobacco, routine smoke components can be regulated. Regression equations based on chemical components can predict smoke components in flue-cured tobacco leaves.
