The sintering characters of α - β -sialon FGM were investigated and the functionally symmetrical composition material (SCFGM) of α-β -sialon was fabricated. Thermal stress distribution within the FGMs was calculated with finite element analysis method, which shows too small to affect the properties of α-β -sialon SCFGM. The values of residual stresses are much lower than those of compressive and tensile strength of sialon, and can not cause cracks and failure.
