PHOTOCATALYTIC DEGRADATION OF METHYL ORANGE ON NANOCRYSTALLINE TiO_2

Nanocrystalline TiO 2 made from TiOSO 4 was studied by XRD and TEM. TiO 2 is proved to be titanic oxide at the annealing temperature of 500 ℃, the average size of TiO 2 particles is about 10 nm. TiO 2 powder was immobilized on a glass_plate using adhesive and then dried in air at 50 ℃. The photocatalytic degradation of methyl orange in water was studied in photoreactor with UV lamp as light source and titanic oxide on the glass_plate as catalyst. The effects of the concentration of methyl orange, pH value, the amount of catalyst and the light intensity were also investigated.
