SOL-GEL SYNTHESIS OF SrAl_2O_4∶Eu~(2+), Dy~(3+) NANO-PARTICLE PHOSPHOR

Long persistent phosphorescence SrAl_2O_4:Eu 2+, Dy 3+ nano_particle phosphor was synthesized by the sol-gel method under a reducing atmosphere at lower temperature. XRD pattern indicates that the sample synthesized at the temperature of 1 100- 1 300 ℃ is with monoclinic SrAl_2O_4 crystal structure, a=0.844 24 nm, b=0.882 2 nm, c=0.516 07 nm. Excitation and emission spectra are both broad bands. The emission spectrum peak is at 523 nm and the excitation spectrum consist of several peaks including 240, 330, 378, 425 nm. The sample excited by ultraviolet-visible light can emit bright green light. The particle size of powder sample increases with the synthesized temperature. TEM and electron diffraction study show that the nano_particle samples sintered at 1 100 ℃ for 4 h are crystalline state with the size about 30-40 nm.
