MECHANICAL STRENGTH AND MAGNETIC PROPERTIES OF Ni-DOPED MANGANESE-ZINC FERRITE

In order to improve the density and mechanical strength of manganese-zinc ferrite, the effects of substituting Ni for Mn in manganese-zinc ferrite with a nominal composition of the Zn0.32Mn0.60–xNixFe2.08O4 doped with NiO on the mechanical strength and magnetic properties of manganese-zinc ferrite were investigated. The phase component and fracture surface micrograph of manga-nese-zinc ferrite samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy. The crystal lattice constant of the samples was calculated. The Vickers hardness, bending strength and magnetic properties of the samples were measured. The results show that the crystal lattice constant of manganese-zinc ferrite and the grain size decrease, while the density increases, and the me-chanical strength and magnetic properties of manganese-zinc ferrite are improved due to the substitution of Ni for Mn.
