SYNTHESIS AND PHOTOCATALYTIC PROPERTY OF Fe_2O_3/FeVO_4 NOVEL PHOTOCATALYST

Fe2O3/FeVO4 photocatalysts were prepared by liquid phase precipitation.The photocatalytic activities of the Fe2O3/FeVO4 series catalysts with different Fe contents and calcined at different temperatures were investigated.The photocatalytic activity under visible and ultra-violet light was evaluated by photocatalytic degradation of methyl orange(MO) in the solution.The results show that the sample with a Fe to V mole ratio of 1.01:1 and calcined at 750 ℃ for 4 h has the best MO decolorization rate;the decolorization rate was 19% greater than that of pure FeVO4.The results also show that the decolorization rate of MO at 100 min can reach 82% at the optimum initial concentration of catalysts of 4 g/L.Moreover,the Fe2O3/FeVO4 catalysts can be re-utilized,and the photocatalytic efficiency of the Fe2O3/FeVO4 is still above 80% even after being reused five times.
