Preparation and Tribological Proporties of Intercalated Cu-Mg-Al Hydrotalcite

Cu-Mg-Al hydrotalcite-like compounds(LDHs) was synthesized by hydrothermal.The products were modified by anion-exchange intercalation method using sodium dodecyl sulfate(SDSO) as the modifier.The composition,structure and morphology of the intercalated hydrotalcite-like compounds were characterized by X-ray diffraction,Fourier transform infrared and scanning elec-tron microscopy,and thermogravimetric-differential thermal analysis.The results show that the synthesized hydrothermal-like com-pounds are Cu-Mg-Al-CO3 LDHs and Cu-Mg-Al-SDSO LDHs.The intercalated hydrotalcite-like compounds were dispersed evenly in base oil.The tribological properties of the samples were tested by the MM-10W four-ball test machine.The results show that compared with the base oil,the friction coefficient of the intercalated hydrotalcite-like compounds is reduced by 32%.
