A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens and Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte are novels of love and death. Sydney Carton in A Tale of Two Cities and Heathcliff in Wuthering Heights both die for the women they love. But the two men have different experiences and understandings of love, and their deaths contain different values and meanings: Carton's reflected these of Jesus, and Heathcliff reflected Satan's.
