Extending service life of residue hydrotreating catalyst by injecting sulfur

ZHANG Liu jun, HU Chang lu, HAN Zhao ming (SINOPEC Fushun Research Institute of Petroleum and Petrochemicals, Liaoning Fushun 113001,China)  
During activity stabilization state of residue hydrotreating catalyst, distillate containing sulfiding agent was fed into the catalyst bed so as to enhance sulfur content in the hydrogen recycle. Results from pilot test showed that service life of the catalyst was greatly extended after injecting sulfur. This method is applicable to the re start process after emergency shutdown with considerable economic gains.
