Two Rail Guided Vehicles Scheduling Based on Tabu Search Algorithm

According to the fact that during the retrieval operation of an automated storage and relief system,two rail-guided vehicles(RGVs)running on the same rail may collide,this paper develops RGV conflict-avoidance constraints.Considering that the stacker scheduling also affects the total retrieval time,this paper combines RGV scheduling and stacker scheduling together,and formulates the RGV scheduling problem into a mathematic model.The objective is to minimize the total retrieval time for all the items to be retrieved.According to the character of the retrieval operation,this paper presents a solution representation based on RGV move sequence and a feasible solution construction method based on RGV dispatching rules and input/output station dispatching rules.Furthermore,this paper presents a tabu search algorithm to solve the problem.To evaluate the performance of our algorithm,this paper develops a lower bound on the total retrieval time.Computational experiments indicate that the tabu search algorithm performs well on avoiding RGV collisions and can solve the problem effectively.
