Research on Decision of Inventory and Screening of Perishable Items Based on Learning Effect and Imperfect Quality

In view of the instability of production, processing, storage, and transportation of perishable items, based on a two-echelon cold chain system consisting of one manufacturer and one retailer, an integrated cold chain inventory model for perishable items with random quality defects is established, in which the deteriorating rate follows the two-parameter Weibull distribution and the influences of the learning effect on the fixed ordering cost of the manufacturer and retailer are considered. Then, the inventory policy and the screening policy for defective items is researched with the purpose of minimizing the expected value of the average total cost of the cold chain under the non 100% screening of defective items. Finally, combined with the example simulation, the effectiveness of the model is verified by using the Genetic Algorithm. And the results of the sensitivity analysis show that the increase of the raw material deterioration rate, the finished product defect rate and the learning rate all caused the rise of the average total cost of the system, and the effect of retailer's fixed order cost learning rate on the cold chain cost is the most significant. Therefore, in the management of cold chain inventory, it should be more focused on cultivating the learning effect of fixed order cost at the retail terminal to obtain more cost saving space and promote the overall competitive advantage of the cold chain.
