EXPERIMEMAL STUDY ON HYSTERETIC BEHAVIOR OF CONCRETE-INCASED STEEL PLATE SHEAR WALLS

The concrete-incased steel plate shear wall is a new kind of bracing used in tall steel building.The steel plate incased in the concrete plays the main role to resist the lateral forces, while the concrete supplies lateral restraint to steel plate to enhance the lateral stability of the steel plate and hence increases the capacity of the concrete-incased steel plate shear wall for resisting lateral forces. Three tests of concrete-incased steel plate shear walls and one test of steel plate shear ball have been conducted by the authors and their failure modes, ductility, shear strength and stiffnes have ho also studied under low frequency cyclic loading. Experimental investigations show that the concrete-incased steel plate shear wall has good stability and ductility behavior and its stiffness and strength are improved in comparison with the steel plate shear wall.
