In order to entirely avoid rust of reinforcements in concrete structures,fiber reinforced plastics (FRP),a new type of reinforcements,are utilized to substitute for the ordinary reinforcements in Europe,America and Japan since 1985 FRP has the characteristics of high corrosion resistance,high tensile strength,low shear resistance,low specific gravity and low elastic modulus At present time,there are many scientific studies in the field of FRP performance and many engineering applications of FRP abroad In this paper new research and application progress of FRP in the world are introduced
