THE CHARACTERISTICS OF TRANSPARENCY OF ATMOSPHERE ON THE MAIN PART OF QINGHAI-XIZANG PLATEAU

Ji Guoliang (Lanzhou Institute of Plateau Atmospheric Physics, Academia Sinica)  
By analysing the data of atmospheric transmission coefficients on the main part of Qinghai-Xi/ang Plateau from August 1982 to July 1983, it is found that the characteristics of transparency of atmosphere on the main part of Qinghai-Xizang Plateau are as follows: (1) The seasonal variation of transparency of atmosphere is quite clear.It is very well in winter and it is had in summer.it is also not well during transitional season. ( 2 ) The daily variation of transparency of atmosphere is simple single-peak type in winter.In summer, it is also single-peak type on the middle part, it is "V" type on western part,and it is probably double-peaks type on the eastern part of the plateau. (3) Through the year, the western part of the plateau is the crea of high value for the atmospheric transmission coefficients and the areas of low value are on the Chaidamu Basin and Hengduan mountain areas.
