Progress of inorganic coagulant polysilicate

This paper is general review on the progress in studying of inorganic coagulant polysilicate for water and wastewater treatment. The merits of these flocculants are analyzed from their four development stages. There are some problems in present study and some pieces of suggestion are given for the development of polysilicated in the future. We should primarily launch the research on the new ways of their preparation, improving their flocculability and stabilization, study the interaction between the polysilicate and metal salts and probe into their mechanisms. The application research should be further developed, in which the most important is determining the optimum application conditions and scopes in treating water and wastewater.
