Study on the treatment of coke plant wastewater by adsorption catalytic oxidation process

The removal efficiency of refractory organics in coke plant wastewater is only 70% by using activated carbon as adsorbent. By means of combining adsorption with catalytic oxidation,the removal rates of COD will be improved greatly. The results of orthogonal experiment show that the treatment effect of H 2O 2-Fe 2+ (Fenton reagent)is better than that of H 2O 2-Cu 2+ ,and the optimal operation conditions are as follows:H 2O 2 1.5 g/L;Fe 2+ 0.4 g/L ,reaction temperature 80 ℃. After the treatment by adsorption catalytic oxidation process,the COD of coke plant wastewater is reduced to 43.2 mg/L from 1 173.0 mg/L,and the removal efficiency of COD is up to 96.3%. The regeneration of the activated carbon saturated with organic can be achieved by H 2O 2 as oxidant,with 96.6% regeneration efficiency.
