COD removal from semi-coke wastewater by electro-coagulation

It is investigated that the feasibility of removing COD from semi-coke wastewater by electro-coagulation whose anode is made of aluminum or stainless steel.The effects of the operating conditions,such as treating time,pH,current density,electrolyte concentration,the space between polar plates,etc.on the COD removing efficiency from semi-coke wastewater are investigated.The results show that the COD removing efficiency from semi-coke wastewater by aluminum anode electro-coagulation is better than that by stainless anode electro-coagulation.When the current density is 0.05 A/cm2 at aluminum anode,pH=7,and electro-coagulation time 4 h,the removing rate of COD from semi-coke wastewater can be as high as 75%.The experimental results show that the pretreatment effect of semi-coke wastewater can be realized by aluminum anode electro-coagulation.
