EFFECTS OF MOLYBDENUM ON IMMUNE FUNCTIONS AFFECTED BY MERCURIC CHLORIDE

Method of immune toxicology was used to investigate the effect of sodium molybdate on immune toxicity of mercuric chloride. The results showed that ICR mice intoxicated by mercuric chloride had lowered clearance rate of charcoal particulates of the blood, delayed type hypersensitivity (DTH) to sheep RBC, delayed cutaneous hypersensitivity (DCH) to DNCB and immune organs index when compared with the controls. When the mice were fed with sodium molybdate in advance, then the above indications were raised in different extent when intoxicated with same amount of mercuric chloride. It suggests that mercuric chloride has immune toxicity and sodium molybdate has an antagonistic effect against the immune toxicity induced by mercuric chloride.
