Objective: To investigate the expression of macrophage migration inhibitory factor(MIF) in oral squamous cell carcinoma(OSCC) and its significance. Methods:The expression of MIF protein was detected in 42 cases of OSCC and 10 cases of normal tissues by using immunohistochemical SABC method and its correlations with histoomophologic and clinical findings were statistically analyzed with SPSS14.0.Results:The positive rate of MIF protein(73.81%)in OSCC was significantly higher than that in normal tissues(P0.05).The expression of MIF was related to sex, lymphnode metastasis and TNM stage(P0.05).Conclusions: The expression of MIF protein was up-regulated in OSCC,which may play an important role in the process of progress and metastasis of OSCC.
