An overview of fiber-optic gyroscopes

Since the emergence of fiberoptic gyroscope it has attracted great attention of various universities and research institutes in the worldwide owing to its obvious advantages, flexible design and promising prospect. The principle, characteristics and classification of fiberoptic gyroscopes are summarized in this paper. The development of fiberoptic gyroscopes at home and abroad is emphasized.
