A survey of damping low frequency oscillations in an electric power system

This paper starts from the cause of low frequency oscillation(LFO) and than points out that there are several ways to study the LFO including its rejection measures.In view of the fact that the conventional power system stabilizer is considered as the best way to damp the LFO,the paper show that different effects of various power system stabilizers(PSS) on the LFO along with the description of the strong points of each individual through an analysis and comparison.The paper also points out that the present electric power system find its operational mode very complex.Its future development is also discussed in the paper.
