Returning to Monetary Neutrality: The Ultimate Goal of Monetary Policy

ZHAO Jian-jun(School of Economics and Finance,Xi'an Jiaotong University,Xi'an,Shaanxi 710061,P.R.China)  
This paper analyzes quarterly data in the 2000-2005 period in China.It verifies that money is neutral in the long term,monetary policy only influences the degree of money neutrality in a subsequent period of time,and the degree weakens with release of monetary policy.Therefore,maintaining monetary neutrality should be the core of monetary policy of the central bank and the ultimate goal for testing monetary policy.
