Synthesis of Acrylic Acid Copolymer with Maleic Anhydride Modification Surfactant

Acrylic acid copolymer reacted with maleic anhydride at first, then the polymer esterifies reacted with nonionic surfactant to produce a new kind of polymeric surfactant. It concluded the optimum conditions to produce the polymer as follows: the time was 3 hours, concentration of primer was 3% , commoner ratio (AA: Ma) was (1-2):l;esterifies temperature was 85℃ and time was 3 hours, the commoner ratio (Ma-. Ns) is 1 :(1- 2), the solvent was analytical reagent, and the catalyst was strong vitriol. Finally the water solubility and emulsifi cation of the product were determined.
