Study on Removal of Bromid by Two Different Pillared Bentonite

Using the calcium-base-bentonite as raw material,through the pillared process,two different modification bentonitemade-iron and aluminum pillared bentonite were prepared.The pillared bentonites were applied in the removal of bromine.The results showed that these two kinds of pillared bentonite were both efficiency for bromine ion removal.The removal rate reached more than 90% after 20 min adsorption by 0.5 g pillared bentonite.With the temperature rised from 10 ℃ to 45 ℃,the removal rate of bromine by aluminum pillared bentonite and iron pillared bentonite dropped 86.5% and 91.7% to 56.1% and 49.6%,respectively.With the rising of pH,it showed a significant reduction of bromine removal.According to the experimental conditions,the pH 6 was the best choice.Through the analysis of the adsorption dynamics and isotherm,it can be seen that the adsorption of bromine by pillared bentonite was a spontaneous and exothermic process.
