Analysis of area elevation integral based on different DEM resolution in Huanggang City

The area elevation integral value can be used to reveal the characteristics of watershed geomorphology. Taking Huanggang City of Hubei Province as an example,this study applied the DEM data at 30 m spatial resolution as the basic data base source,and re-sampled those DEM data into60 meters,90 meters,120 meters,150 meters data using re-sampling tools provided in ArcGIS10. 1,and then drainage networks was extracted at 5 resolutions and area elevation integral value HI were calculated using a hydrological analysis tool. The results show that the best conflux threshold value are 7000,4800,3600,3200,2400 respectively; while under all those 5 different resolutions,it was found that the aged dominates the development of the regional geomorphic stage and is followed by maturity and infancy,regional geomorphology development tends to be stable,indicating that the HI value is less affected by DEM resolution. Spatial distribution of HI values can serve as the macroscopic understanding of regional soil erosion considering the fact that the HI value also indicates the landform development stage,which is the major cause for soil erosion.
