Microwave Extraction of Total Flavonoids from Polygonum Hydropiper L.

The microwave-assisted extraction process of the flavones content in Polygonum hydropiper L.was investigated.The effects of power of microwave oven,ethanol concentration,extraction time,and solid/liquid ratio(g/mL) on the extraction of total flavones in Polygonum hydropiper L.were studied by single factor and orthogonal experiments.The optimum microwave-assisted extraction conditions included the power of microwave oven of 520 W,ethanol concentration of 60%,three times of radiation and 60 s for each time,solid/liquid ratio of 1∶ 20(g/mL).The results show that microwave-assisted extraction can extract more flavones from polygonum hydropiper L.in shorter time with less energy.It also shows a promising prospect for leaching the effective constituents from Chinese herbal medicine by using microwave extraction.
