Development of Quality of Life Questionnaire for Psychiatric Patients

Objective:To develop a questionnaire for assessment of quality of life(QOL) in psychiatric patients.Method :The original questionnaire was established by focus group discussion with patients and their family members. The originaI questionnaire was tested as preparation.After preparatory test,the original questionnaire was revised.The contents of revised questionnaire consisted of four sub scales :physical,psychological,social function and symptom.Then,250 psychiatric patients were investigated by applying revised questionnaire. The QOL questionnaire was developed for evaluation of its reliability and validity.Results:The Cronbach′s alpba for sub scale and total scale were 0.8,0. 74,0. 73,0.67,0. 88. The test-retest reliability was 0.81.Item total sub-scale correlation was 0 30-0.69,0.41-0.67,0.38-0.62,0.30～0. 73.The result of factor analysis showed satisfactory construction.Conclusion:The quality of life questionnaire for psychiatric patients attained satisfactory reliability and validity.
